If you’re looking for a high-quality pocket watch, we have a great list of brands that should top your list of considerations. I know it’s a pain to track down which manufacturers still make pocket watches. The market (and internet) seem to be flooded with cheap versions that are sure to not stand the test of time. A pocket watch is a classic piece of a gentleman’s wardrobe and one that should be passed down from generation to generation.
My recent mention of the pocket watch in my post on men’s watches under $500 inspired me to do more research into which companies were still producing these timeless watches.
Tissot Pocket Watches
1920 Mechanical Men’s Silver Pocket Watch
The name says 1920, yet this pocket watch feels quite contemporary to me with the bold T on the pendant. Despite its modern feel, it is still a beautiful timepiece. Acquire here or here.
Movement: Mechanical ETA 6497
Crystal: Scratch-Resistant Sapphire Crystal
Case: Stainless Steel
Savonnette White Quartz Pocket Watch & Chain
The most affordable and only watch with a quartz movement on the list this is a great introduction piece into pocket watches. Unlike the model above, this watch has the classic look that I find appealing in a pocket watch. Acquire here.
Movement: Quartz ETA F06.111
Crystal: Mineral Crystal
Case: Stainless Steel
Omega Pocket Watches
1932 Olympic Pocket Watch
This pocket watch is a replica of Omega’s 1932 Olympic watch. It was used during the first year in which Omega was the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games. The games were held in Los Angeles. There are only 300 of these made, 100 each in white gold, red gold, and yellow gold.
Movement: Omega 3889
Crystal: Scratch-Resistant Sapphire Crystal
Case: White Gold (shown), Red Gold, Yellow Gold
Phillip Patek Pocket Watches
Lepine Pocket Watch 972/1J-010
This pocket watch from Phillip Patek looks classic with its gold case, gold hands, and white dial. The chronograph provides additional interest and is particularly pleasing to the eye.
Movement: 17”’ LEP PS IRM
Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
Case: Yellow Gold
Hunter Pocket Watch 980G-001
The hunter watch is a suitable alternative if you’re afraid of damaging the crystal or prefer the added functionality. This is definitely not as dressy as the previous watch although any pocket watch would likely be considered dressy these days.
Movement: 17”’ SAV PS
Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
Case: Yellow Gold
Orient Pocket Watches
Orient DD00001W
More affordable, and the only watch on the list with a Japanese movement, Orient makes a fine looking pocket watch. This watch comes in two options, either with Arabic numerals or Roman numerals.
Movement: 48C40
Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
Case: Stainless Steel
Panerai Pocket Watches
Panerai PAM00529
Few watch brands, if any, are as easily recognizable as Panerai. These pocket watches were produced in limited numbers of 50 units. Available in white gold and red gold.
Movement: P.3001/10
Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
Case: White Gold (shown), Red Gold
Cartier Pocket Watches
Grand Complication Pocket Watch
Ok, this is one hell of a conversation piece. Five hundred hours goes into creating one of these pocket watches. This is a stunning pocket watch that will likely want to show off every chance you get.
Movement: 9436 MC
Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
Case: White Gold
