Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Statistics show that 1/3 of women in the world will suffer from physical and/or sexual abuse at some point in their lives. I feel ashamed that I had never heard before that the 25th of every month is Orange Day. Each month you can wear orange on the 25th and help spread the word to end violence against women.
There has been a lot of focus in the past few years on men’s health during what has came to be called Movember. This is a wonderful thing but today while you are combing your mustache, think about how you can also help abused women and girls. You can find more info on UNiTE’s Facebook page.
What can you do to help? Be a role model to young men around you and let them know through your actions and words that violence of any kind (physical, sexual, or emotional) against women is not accepatable. By showing kindness in your actions everyday and you can help change the world for the better.
Stay true to yourself. Be kind to others. Define your own style.
