Ok, so it’s not going to be a secret any longer but this is so good I couldn’t keep it to myself forever. What could it possibly be? When I think of professionals who know how to put patterns and colors together outside of the fashion world I think of interior designers.
Interior design is field I like to follow. People’s tastes for interior design vary even more than their taste in fashion. It’s because of this that interior design is filled with creative people who can create a range of different styles that look fantastic.
From contemporary to country, whatever style you want to dress in you can find inspiration from interior design. Let’s look at one interior design and see how we can pull an outfit together using the elements from the design.
To illustrate this technique I will use a country-themed living room I found on Houzz. I’ll call this look the country gentleman.
The Country Gentleman
Rust Blazer from the sofa – This rust colored herringbone tweed blazer is by Brooks Brothers.
Plaid Shirt from the throw pillows – The country check shirt is from British clothier, Charles Tyrwhitt.
Brown Trousers from the dark wood furnishings – These brown flannel trousers are from the iconic American brand, J. Press.
Dress Boots from the leather coffee table – American-made dress boots from Allen Edmonds.
And that was my number one secret for putting together great looking outfits. If you have any similar tips I would love to hear about them in the comments below.
Stay true to yourself. Be kind to others. Define your own style.
