The solid grenadine tie is perhaps the most versatile piece of neckwear a man can own. A dark-colored grenadine tie can be worn with just about any suit and shirt combination. The intricate woven texture creates a depth far beyond any other tie you will own. This depth is what makes the ties easy to wear with just about anything.
Because it does not have a pattern (e.g. stripes) the solid grenadine will pair well with anything from a windowpane, to a glen plaid, or solid suit. I recommend starting out with a charcoal, navy or burgundy grenadine tie. These will never fail to look great with anything you throw at them. With the exception of the occasional bow tie, Sean Connery’s James Bond always wore a grenadine tie.
The beauty of grenadine is its timelessness. Purchase one in a medium width and it will give you many years of use without falling out of style. There are tons of companies that produce grenadine ties, however, I’ve narrowed my suggestions down to a few brands that I know will stand the test of time.
Turnbull & Asser
Price: $155
You can’t argue about the tie that James Bond wore. On top of that, Turnbull & Asser makes clothes for Prince Charles. These are two best reasons I could give you to purchase a new Turnbull & Asser grenadine tie. Why are you still waiting?
Drake’s
Price: $155
Drake’s London offers both tipped and untipped grenadine ties. I prefer tipped ties but if you’re going for that casual look or you can pull of jeans and a tie then try out the untipped version. This brown one here would go great with a pair of blue jeans.
Kent Wang
Price: $75
Steel blue is one of my favorite tie colors. Because it isn’t as popular as navy or sky blue you have a much better chance at having a unique tie at the office or event you’re attending. If you already have a navy tie hanging in your closet, try this steel blue grenadine tie from Kent Wang.
Chipp Neckwear
Price: $50
This purple grenadine tie is perfect for the gent looking to expand his tie wardrobe past the usual colors. Oh yeah, and at $50 it’s the best deal on a quality grenadine tie that you’re likely to find anytime soon.
Sam Hober
Price: $90
If you need the largest selection of grenadine ties in colors you won’t find anywhere else then you need to hop on over to Sam Hober and take a look at their grenadine tie collection. What’s even better is they will customize the tie to your exact specifications.
