Sometimes its good to step away from the usual and don an item less frequently worn. This is how I feel about ties other than silk. Autumn and winter are the perfect time to rediscover wool ties.
There’s something comfortable about wool neckwear. It reminds me of wintertime, Christmas shopping, and holiday get togethers. Thoughts of English country retreats, warm tea and fresh pastries fill my head when I knot a wool tie around my neck.
If you like wool ties as much as I do, then Alexander Olch, is a brand I am pleased to introduce to you. Unique in today’s world of “offer everything brands,” Olch has become synonymous with quality wool accessories. That’s not all they sell though.
You can always find a fabric covered notebook (pictured at the end of the post) that’s much classier than your standard office store variety. They also provide a wide range of cotton accessories as well. Browse their site and you’ll discover dapper pocket rounds and lots of other goodies.
Alexander Olch Tie #1
A fun, colorful tie that could be paired with a dark pair of jeans and a sport coat for a casual look. I wouldn’t wear this with a pinstripe suit however to each his own.
Alexander Olch Tie #2
I love the color combinations found in Alexander Olch’s ties. This tie screams pheasant hunting to me. Although you shouldn’t be screaming while hunting.
Alexander Olch Tie #3
Wool denim, what a great fabric! Pair this with a grey suit, white shirt and pocket square and you’ll be ready for a night on the town.
Alexander Olch Tie #4
You might picture your university professor wearing a tie like this. Don’t worry though, his was 3.5 inches wide and left over from the seventies. This is a modern size and fits perfectly with a tweed sport coat.
Alexander Olch Notebook
While there are a few options available, my favorite is this black and white check tweed version. Take notes in style and impress your boss. Who knows, maybe that promotion is within reach after all.
Sold in Nordstrom, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Steven Alan, their own brick & mortar stores, and of course online. Go here for a full list of stores.
